| Honoris Causa - Brugnano |
Denomination: IGT Sicilia
Grapes: 75% Nero D’Avola e 25% Syrah,
grown on the hills around Partinico
between 200 and 300 meters above sea
level. In this area, chosen for its particular
microclimate and soil, some of the oldest
vines grow, and this was the base for the
production of our selection. The vines
are Guyot pruned, planted with an
average density, with very low yield due
to old age and training technique.
Vinification and ageing: The grapes are
hand-picked, Syrah at the end of August
and Nero d’Avola in the fourth week of
September. the wine is then racked in French
oak barrels where it ages for 12 months.
After bottling it ages for further 9 months
before market release
The grapes are crushed and
destemmed and the must is fermented
at controlled temperature (25°C) in
stainless steel tanks with frequent
“pumping-over” and delestages for 10
days;
Il cappello in quest’arco di tempo subisce
ripetuti rimontaggi e delestage.
Description: Deep blue with violet
nuances. The nose reveals notes of
cherry, blackberry and mulberry with
remarkable complexity; on the palate is
spicy, luscious, all-embracing and velvety.
How to serve: We recommend to open
the bottle a couple of hours before
consumption. Serve in ample stem
glasses at 18°C .
